Park Plaza County Hall
1 Addington Street
4 star hotel, 398 rooms, 1177 reviews, score 8.7
The best choice for a gay friendly hotel in London: Park Plaza County Hall is an enthusiastically – if somewhat haphazardly – run new-build. Each room has its own kitchenette with microwave and sink, and room sizes aren’t bad across the price range (the floor-to-ceiling windows help them feel bigger). There’s a handsomely vertiginous atrium, enabling you to peer down into the central restaurant from the frustratingly infrequent glass lifts, and the ground-floor bar is buzzy with business types after work. The gargantuan Park Plaza Westminster Bridge (200 Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 7UT) has now opened nearby, at the southern end of Westminster Bridge. It’s London’s largest new-build hotel for four decades.
The Grand at Trafalgar Square
8 Northumberland Avenue
4 star hotel, 63 rooms, 697 reviews, score 8.2
Some short notes for this gay firendly hotel in central London.
The location. Smack dab in Trafalgar Square and right near tons of attractions! All gay bars and clubs of Soho are within a short walk. A short walk to Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace (where I just came back from), The National Gallery is a two minute walk away. Everything else is reachable a bit longer walk or via the Tube which is itself just a block away.
2. The lobby. Very nice. It reminds me of what Americans think Europe should look like.
3. The rooms. The rooms are basic, not large but not tiny. They are neat, clean, offer free wired and wireless internet. Definitely enough space for two in these rooms (although I think there might be smaller rooms as well). As one person I was fine.
4. The price. Much less than nearby hotels.
